What are emollients?

Emollients are medical (non-cosmetic) moisturisers to treat and manage the symptoms of dry skin conditions.1

In this article, we discuss what emollients are, the different types of emollient, and how they can help you to manage your dry skin condition symptoms.

When applying any emollient, always read the label and avoid contact with eyes.

What are emollients?

  • Emollients are non-cosmetic moisturisers to treat and manage the symptoms of dry skin conditions.1
  • Keeping up a good routine of applying your emollient regularly will help to relieve your symptoms (such as itchiness), and keep your skin feeling comfortable.

What are the different types of emollient?

It’s important to find an emollient that works for you, your skincare needs and fits into your lifestyle. There are four different emollient formulations to choose from within the EPIMAX® range: creams, a hydro-gel, ointments and a wash. Every skin condition is different to each individual person, so finding what works to keep your skin happy is unique to you. You may find that using one product is enough, or you may find that using more than one product at different times of the day is best for your skin.

What are the differences between the creams, hydro-gel, ointments and wash?
