Emollient Range

Presentation

Creams and gel available in a 500g tottle, tub or 100g tube, ointments available in a 500g or 125g tub.

Main ingredients

Epimax Moisturising Cream: White soft paraffin 14.5% w/w, liquid paraffin 12.6% w/w, anhydrous lanolin 1% w/w; Epimax Original Cream: White soft paraffin 15% w/w and liquid paraffin 6% w/w; Epimax Oatmeal Cream: Avena sativa (oat) kernel flour; Epimax ExCetra Cream: White soft paraffin 13.2% w/w and light liquid paraffin 10.5% w/w; Epimax Isomol gel: Isopropyl myristate 15% w/w and liquid paraffin 15% w/w; Epimax Ointment: Liquid paraffin 40% w/w and yellow soft paraffin 30% w/w; Epimax Paraffin-Free Ointment: Polyoxyethylene (40) hydrogenated castor oil 38% w/w. Epimax Intensive cream: White Soft Paraffin 20% w/w and Light Liquid Paraffin 8% w/w.

Indications

As an emollient for the relief of dry skin in eczema, psoriasis, and other dry skin conditions. Creams: For use as a body wash. Gel: For the relief of dry or chapped skin which may also be itchy or inflamed and as a body wash Ointments: Also as a bath additive.

Method of use

Adults, Elderly and Children: apply to the skin areas as frequently as required. Smooth into the skin in the direction of hair growth. If necessary, allow time for any excess to soak in. As a body wash (creams and gel): Use as required when washing or in the shower. As a bath additive (Ointments): Melt 4g in hot water and add to the bath.

Dosage

Use as required to manage symptoms.

Warnings

Do not smoke or go near naked flames – risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings etc) that has been in contact with these products burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard. Avoid contact with the eyes. If product does accidentally come in contact with eyes, rinse well with water and seek medical advice. Talk to your doctor or healthcare professional before use if the skin is broken, badly cracked, infected, or bleeding. Keep out of sight and reach from children.

Contraindications

Patients with known hypersensitivity to any component. Known sensitising ingredients in the products include: Epimax Moisturising Cream: Lanolin, Cetostearyl Alcohol, and Hydroxybenzoates; Epimax Original Cream: Cetostearyl Alcohol and Phenoxyethanol; Epimax Oatmeal Cream: Cetostearyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Isopropyl Palmitate and Benzyl Alcohol; Epimax ExCetra Cream: Cetostearyl Alcohol and Phenoxyethanol; Epimax Isomol Gel: Phenoxyethanol and Triethanolamine; Epimax Ointment: Cetostearyl Alcohol; Epimax Paraffin-Free Ointment: Cetostearyl Alcohol. Epimax Intensive Cream: Cetostearyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

No special precautions required.

Side effects

Rarely mild reactions such as skin rash can occur. Allergic reactions.

Shelf life

100g plastic tubes – 36 months. 500g Tottles – 36 months. 500g/125g tub – 36 months. Use within 3 months of initial opening.

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze.

EPIMAX® Eyelid Ointment Patient Information

Presentation: Ointment in 4g tube

Main ingredients: Yellow soft paraffin 80%, liquid paraffin 10% and wool fat (lanolin) 10%

Indications: Soothing moisturiser for dry, itchy, red and flaky eyelids.

Method of use: Apply to the eyelid skin as frequently as required.

Warnings: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients. This product contains lanolin, which may cause local skin reactions or allergic reactions. Seek medical advice before use if the skin is broken, infected, or bleeding; or after use if any undesirable effects are experienced, or if accidentally swallowed.

Contraindications: Patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient. Known sensitising ingredient: Lanolin

Pregnancy: No special precautions during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Storage: Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Use within 3 months after opening and do not use after expiry date. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
